Oh happy day...

Mon Mar 30, 2009, 7:45 AM
Ok, not totally happy because my hubby is still out of town... but!

I reached Platinum on Whuddle World and I'm super stoked about that. I'm throwing myself a party so if you have an account stop by. There's a game, giveaways and a poetry contest for dd gift certificates. FUN STUFF!

Not only that but I finally heard from the WW elders and they're going to use some of the items I made on the site! *does a happy dance* So be on the lookout for that!

Ok, sorry for all that ww obsessed gushing. Onto other things.

I'm going to try to crank out some more sketches today. I'm just in the mood to draw and draw and draw. What I have learned is that I suck at drawing bodies. Dynamic poses are hard to accomplish, too. But I'm going to keep at it.

I found a new artist to love. ~jfrison Her art is amazing. I love comic book style art. It doesn't get enough credit with the anime/manga craze going on.

Personally, I like to try and walk a line between the two. Don't know if that comes off in my art just yet, but that's my intention. :P

Do you have a personal/favorite style?

Mystery Games/Books & Other Stuff

Wed Mar 25, 2009, 10:01 PM
I love playing video games but not the same ones most others play. Don't get me wrong, I love Mario and Tekken, but the only ones I've bought or demoed lately were mystery games. Most of them were a let down because, to me, simply pointing at items on a list isn't really challenging. So far, I beat every single one before the demo runs out. Why aren't there more games that actually require thought?

I bought a Nancy Drew game some months ago, The Legend of the Crystal Skull, and it was great. Really entertaining, nice graphics, and the puzzles were decent. The only thing is that it's basically for kids so it only took like two days to solve. I keep trying to find a mystery game for adults but most of them are either really old or have poor reviews.

I found a site called Sleuth on the net but even though it's a great time killer, it's the same thing over and over again.

Does anyone have any suggestions for decent games I could try out? Or any great mystery books that aren't Sherlock Holmes or Agatha Christie? (I'm trying to branch out.) ;)

.............................

On another note, I have actually been pixelling lately. I can't upload anything yet, but I just wanted yall to know there's new stuff coming... probably in April. ;)

I'm throwing my cousin a bridal shower and the theme is "Tiffany & Co." so expect to see some cute pics from that. And I'd love to hear any ideas for decorations or for the shower in general. I've only ever been to 2 and this is the first time I've ever thrown a real party.

Oh and if you haven't already, join WW [link] ;)

Elise is...

Sat Feb 21, 2009, 10:49 AM
- trying to fit as much in one tiny journal as possible.
- happy that WhuddleWorld is coming back.
- sad that they didn't pick her as on of the artists... this was my example -> [link] Cute, huh?
- excited about Mardi Gras weekend.
- worried that she won't find babysitting so she can go to Orpheus Monday night. (The Cast of Reno 911 is going to be there! I want a picture with/of Dangle!)
- proud that she lost almost 15 lbs already.
- stressed that she still has 25lbs to lose before being the maid of honor in Tiffany's wedding. Strapless gowns. *shudders*
- open to any advice on throwing a bridal shower. We're both in our 20's and not so much into formal but kind of forced to class it up a bit for our elders.
- mourning the lose of her favorite player on her favorite team. We'll miss you Deuce! I hope your new fans will love you as much as we did.
- working on some projects to make mushmallow way way way better.
- hopefully spending the weekend in New Orleans with my peeps. ;)

Pixel Artist Scammers

Fri Feb 6, 2009, 2:57 PM
Last year a guy asked me to create some examples for a MMORPG he was making called soarca.com. I ended up making a bunch of examples and then offline issues hit the fan. I didn't log on to da for months, didn't resume contact with this guy, never sent him the art and only recently rediscovered the examples I made for him on my computer.

I didn't want them to go to waste so I looked up the site to see if it was still active and I guess you could call it that. I thought about sending the items to the guy, heck, I even made him some more to complete the set. So I went back and found his email, and just out of force of habit, googled it to see if there's anything I need to know before I actually email the guy. That was a good idea because apparently he has already scammed people, even some people I know from other forums, out of their art without paying.

Not only does it infuriate me that someone would treat hardworking, talented artists like this... but it makes me wary of other opportunities that I might come across. And right now, I need the money. I'm new to freelance. I'm not even sure what the proper protocol should be, what to do and how to avoid getting taken advantage of.

I've heard bad things about spirits of arca, zantarni and a few MMORPGs that never became fully realized, so I'm just wondering. Are any legit sites hiring? Anyone who actually pays the people for the art they use?

As a side note. I really don't want the only things I've pixelled in the last few months to just sit on my pc, so if anyone knows of a base that is a similar size and shape to the soarca.com base [link] then drop me a line so I can so you some of the first male dolls I've done in a while. I'm really proud of them. :D
